Collecting has been my life-long profession in EVE Online and the recent launching of the EVE Online 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition provides "treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross."
Having purchased most of the Collector's Editions for major MMOs out there (yes, including $1,000 WoW original), I can say this with 150% confidence that EVE Online's Collector's Edition provides players with the most amazing ingame items ever:
A permanent Golden Pod? Race specific costumes? Amazing Dust items? Highly collectible 10th anniversary ship BPC? Unique skinned Magnate? Unique Thrasher (pre-order special)?
This is a dream come true for all the collectors out there.
I just preordered my Collector's Edition.
Have you? This is a cause worth boasting about. Show your support!

How many pre-orders are available? Is this limited, or can EVERYONE active have one?
At the moment, CCP hasn't specified on the number of the copies issued, but it would be nice if CCP could provide answer.
I understand that WoW is not EVE, but when Blizzard issued the original Collector's Edition, there were approximately 10,000 in circulation. |

Mara Rinn wrote:I was saying to my partner as we went in to the keynote last night that CCP are giving us a Gnosis as a birthday present, so I wonder how long it will be until they re-use the Gnosis for some other offer. Then there it was: 5 run Gnosis BPC in the Second Decade Collectors Edition.
Anyone running a book on how soon CCP will be re-using the Tash-Murkon Magnate, collectors edition Thrasher, new clothes and DUST 514 equipment for another offer?
There are a few of us collectors that have been adamant about CCP correctly identifying and adhering to "limited being limited" and "collectible being collectible."
Prior to the Ishukone debacle, there has a complete lack of communication between the marketing department and the "game department" that led to marketing department flooding the market with items that were supposed to be limited.
Now that the whole Ishukone debacle has been fixed, CCP has been somewhat clear as to the nature of these items. For example, you will note that the new unique frigates from 2012 Winter presents specifically state that "there are no guarantees that these will be "limited."
I believe CCP will adhere to their wordings and will keep these items "limited." |

It's certainly not cheap. I have to give up weeks' worth of my McDonald's binge, but I believe it is a sacrifice well justified.

Tippia wrote:Mr Epeen wrote:Thank you once again, CCP Tippia, for clarifying your company's interpretation of said terms. Tbf, it has nothing to do with CCP or clarifying their interpretations and more to do with simply reading text on the page. Even before anything has been released, people are complaining that these supposedly GǣlimitedGǥ items are not limited at allGǪ GǪand I'm just pointing out that they were never labelled as limited to begin with. The store lists them as GǣcollectibleGǥ, which they are, but then, everything is collectible, and special-issue ships are just that: special-issue, which simply means they're not issued en masse by the game itself.
You do understand what happens to those who read Qu'ran or Bible too literally? You are starting to sound eerily similar to those.
When read word by word, perhaps what you say sounds "right," but CCP's promotions should be read on a bigger context. Usually in the real world when it comes to collectibles, when a company or a government states "commemorative & collectible edition," it specifies one-time-available-product that will not be "re-issued" in the future. You can look at automobiles, collectible coins from US Mint, and stamps issued by US Postal Service as good examples. It also applies to luxury collectible goods including Cartier & Vacheron Constantine watches, Mont Blanc collectible/commemorative edition pens, special edition Louis Vuitton & Hermes bags, Vertu phones, and many more. As you can see, my argument derives solely from a collector's point of view who has been crazy about collecting anything unique for many years.
When most of the "serious collectors" hear the wording "collector's/special edition," they consider the term synonymous to the word "limited edition." You can continue to be anal about this issue, but anyone who knows a thing or two about collecting woud overwhelming agree with our/collectors' logic.
If you haven't noticed, CCP agrees with our point as well, and hence, they provided equitable compensation in a form of "Silvershore Greatcoat" after the Ishukone shirt debacle, despite hundreds of senseless and time-wasting postings made by you to dissuade CCP from doing so.
Isn't it about time you give up Tippia? I created this posting to provide a place for those who pre-ordered this beautiful Collector's Edition to share and yet, you come here with your nonsensical ramblings to splatter dingleberries all over this sacred space.
Have you pre-ordered the Collector's Edition? If so, share your opinion about how amazing this new Edition is, instead of starting the whole argument about the meaning of "blah blah edition" again. |

That is correct! "Nefantar Thrasher" is provided as Pre-order bonus. All the other ingame items will be available inside the code shipped in the Collector's Edition Box. The "Amarr Drop Uplink" will be available at later date."
Just part of many incentives to encourage us to hold this amazing collection. |

Taria Katelo wrote:you forgot to mention the mystery code that everyone will get with which it will be possible to get other nice stuff throughout the next decade
I was disinclined to post about this "mysterious code" because I could not for the life out of me, find references made by CCP.
Zhade Lezte wrote:Golden pod seems extremely pretentious to me, and breaks ~my immersion~
In all seriousness I don't have a problem with other people getting it, but is it automatically applied to your account or a redeemable item (like PLEX) you can sell to another player?
Most likely not. Seeing how this Golden Pod is suppose to be "permanent" and "account-bound," you won't be able to trade it with other players.
Lord Ryan wrote:So do you get the digital stuff now? And wait till october for the real stuff?
If you pre-order before the release/shipping date (October 2012) or before supplies run out, you will receive a PRE-ORDER BONUS CODE that present you with 1) "Nefantar Thrasher" and 2) Dust 514 related Amarr Uplink.
As for the rest of the ingame/physical items, you have to wait ill it arrives physically to your location. The code will be presented inside the shipment. |

I actually do feel a mix between pity and sadness for everyone who buys this cheap tat.
This is a monumental event worthy of celebration. $150 for all these ingame and physical goods is quite a deal and surely a deal that will not be available for another decade.
Rejoice and take this opportunity to be part of this most exquisite fraternity in the world; being the owners of the most unique Collector's Edition. |

Benny Ohu wrote: I wonder if the BPC will end up valued more than the 5 Gnosis? The Gnosis gets given to everyone (I think?), the BPC is only in the CE
Oh most certainly! Once the Gnosis is introduced, it will be the most widely available "unique ingame ship" ever presented to the player populous. Although it has that aesthetic and cool factor, the price will carry "mediocre premium" over the other unique ships released in the previous years.
On the other hand, this unique BPC will remain TRULY UNIQUE to the Collector's Edition purchase and the value will be significantly higher than probably 100x Gnosis combined due to the rarity factor.
if I were you, I would not try to build anything out of the BPC and just keep it as collectibles. |

Oh, and prolly dump the Thrasher, too.
But I'm terrible at market PVP, so maybe I'll just wait a bit, lol.
At any rate, gratz to CCP for the 10th anniversary for producing a game that has had such a profoundly positive impact on my life and many others!
Khan
Yup usually when I order Collector's Edition for other games, I tell the sellers to trash all the physical goods and send ingame codes via email.
Definitely going to keep all the goodies that come with EVE Online's CE.
As for the market advice, if you are in need of short-term capital, sell the GNOSIS BPC in the first week of the CE release. After several weeks, price will most likely decline, but it will surely appreciate again in the long-run (and surpass the initial first week pricing) if you have the courage and patience to keep them in your inventory. |

The Collector's Edition is still available via multiple venues. My guess is that CCP hasn't finalized on the numbers yet and the final "issue #" will be largely determined by the number of preorders made.
Most likely CCP won't be disclosing the magic number anytime soon because people like me will acquire multiple copies and deprive others from enjoying this beautiful CE. |
